The 10 SUVs People Are Researching The Most Right Now

Pickup trucks may take the top few spots on the best-selling vehicle list, but when yearly sales are tallied, it becomes clear that the sport utility vehicle segment is the most popular overall.

The SUV market can be divided into two classes: traditional utility vehicles built atop truck underpinnings and the newer crossover alternative that’s built on the bones of a passenger car. Both SUV types are popular, but crossovers are the choice for families looking for a car-like experience with improved ground clearance and a higher seating position.

Here are the utility vehicles that garner the most interest from those who do their automotive research online, according to data provided exclusively to AutoGuide via  AutoFinder.com—an automotive marketplace featuring over 3 million new and used vehicle listings, connecting consumers with top dealerships nationwide to easily find and secure the best deal on a car, truck or SUV.

Top 10 Crossovers Researched In February 2025

1. Toyota RAV4

2. Honda CR-V

3. Lexus RX 350

4. Mazda CX-5

5. Kia Telluride

6. Hyundai Tucson

7. Toyota Grand Highlander

8. Toyota Highlander

9. Ford Explorer

10. Subaru Forester

The Toyota RAV4 is the most popular new crossover on the sales floor, and it’s correspondingly popular for those researching their next purchase. Same for the Honda CR-V, which was America’s fifth most popular nameplate last year, in second place on the most researched list. Things get a little off from there—the RX line may be Lexus’ most popular model in America, but it’s far from an overall sales leader.

None of the rest of the results are particularly surprising, though it’s interesting to see where things diverge from the best-selling SUV list.

Top 10 SUVs Researched In February 2025

1. Jeep Wrangler

2. Ford Bronco

3. Chevrolet Tahoe

4. Jeep Grand Cherokee

5. Toyota 4Runner

6. Honda Pilot

7. Hyundai Santa Fe

8. Nissan Pathfinder

9. GMC Yukon

10. Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The Jeep badge is synonymous with the sport utility vehicle, and even though America’s celebrated off-road brand sells both traditional SUVs and more car-like crossovers, it’s the rugged Jeep Wrangler that garners the highest search interest online. The Ford Bronco comes in second, and as the most obvious wind-in-your-hair alternative to the Wrangler, that also makes sense. Popular body-on-frame SUVs make appearances in the form of the Chevy Tahoe in third and GMC Yukon in 9th, and the twin Grand Cherokee and its three-row L derivative are also popular online.

While we’d certainly consider the Toyota 4Runner a traditional SUV, the Honda Pilot, Hyundai Santa Fe and Nissan Pathfinder that were placed on this list of rugged off-roaders by AutoFinder.com, which is powered by Detroit Trading Company and is a partner for AutoGuide's car shopping experience, probably belong on the crossover list instead. Either way, they are just as popular on the sales floor as they are in search results.
