The new Volkswagen flagship sedan is the all-electric ID.7. Slightly larger than other mid-size cars, the new ID-7 will launch with a single powertrains. Making 288 hp and over 400 lb-ft. of torque, the ID.7 will be rear-wheel drive and feature a 77 kWh battery.

Buyers will have the choice of rear- or all-wheel drive, with little difference in range between them.

The new model sees a slight power increase, delivering 328 horsepower, up from the previous car's 315. Torque remains unchanged at 310 pound-feet. The powertrain retains its familiar setup, featuring a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. As anticipated, a manual transmission option is not available.

After a seemingly endless striptease, Volkswagen has finally shared every detail about the 2025 Golf R.

Volkswagen made the decision to kill the manual GTI after 2024 due to what was, at the time, more stringent Euro 7 emissions regulations. But VW tells AutoGuide that it kept the manual GLI around just for the North American market. It was able to do so GLI is developed specifically for the North American region, whereas the more global GTI is handled at home in Wolfsburg where demand for manual performance cars has slackened. 6-speed-flavored news aside, there’s also a facelift in store for both the Jetta and Jetta GLI.

For 2024, Volkswagen has introduced a host of updates to the ID.4 electric crossover. Three trims will be available. A base model, followed by S and S Plus models, the latter of which tops out the range. Each trim is available with the choice between a 62 kWh battery and an 82kWh one, as well as rear or all-wheel drive. Arguably the biggest change comes to models equipped with the optional 82kWh battery pack.

Volkswagen has a new GTI. Not a totally new GTI, but a significant refresh of the current 8th-generation model. Changes are sweeping, both in and out, and many of them remedy customer complaints surrounding the MK8 GTI, like physical buttons on the steering wheel and illuminated climate and volume controls. Others update the vehicle with aesthetic changes like new lights, and mechanically with a power bump. However, Volkswagen appears to have killed the manual GTI. Press materials list both an updated power output for the GTI of 262 horsepower and a sole transmission option: a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
