Porsche
Porsche is the 911. That’s how many people see the German brand, anyway, but truth be told, the iconic sports car is just a small part of the modern Porsche lineup. The 718 Boxster roadster and 718 Cayman coupe have anchored the two-seater side of the business for over 25 years. The Cayenne SUV ruffled feathers when it released in the early aughts, but quickly became one of the brand’s bestsellers. The smaller Macan boosted those numbers further.
It isn’t all SUV talk, either. Porsche brought the Panamera to customers looking for a stylish, driver-focused alternative to the Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5 Series. It even comes in a wagon version now. Slightly smaller is the all-electric Taycan, which also offers sedan and long-roof flavors. The Taycan wagon is called either the Cross Turismo (with SUV-like body cladding) or Sport Turismo, depending on trim.
Of course, there’s still tons of 911 variants to satisfy any needs. The basic Carrera models exist in coupe and convertible form, with rear- or all-wheel drive. There’s a Targa model too, plus the hyper-quick 911 Turbo and track-focused GT3. The 911 has grown over the years, making it an excellent all-rounder with (kid-sized) back seats, available all-wheel drive, and a smooth-shifting PDK transmission. Porsche remains a manual holdout with the 911 and 718s, as well.
