Porsche Cayenne S Electric Debuts with 657 HP
The S model fills out the Cayenne Electric lineup with a well-equipped (and speedy) middle option.
Porsche on Tuesday announced the expansion of the Cayenne Electric range. While the EV SUV is so new we haven't even driven it yet, the 2027 Cayenne S looks like an early sweet spot in the range, packing a good amount of standard equipment plus a healthy dose of power.
In the age of electric models where power is easy, Porsche says the Cayenne S offers a huge 222 extra ponies over the base electric SUV. That figure is accurate when launch control is active: this model hits 657 hp in that case, enabling it to rip to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.8 seconds. In normal use the Cayenne S peaks at a still-healthy 536 hp; the entry-level Cayenne Electric produces 402 hp.
Folks will be able to pick the Cayenne S out too, as the model arrives with unique styling front and back, with certain features picked out in Volcano Gray Metallic. The diffuser is painted body color by default, while 20-inch alloys round out the package. Of course, buyers have the choice of multiple wheel options.
Similarly, the options list includes plenty of the features previously exclusive to the Turbo model. This includes Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, ceramic composite brakes, and the Sport Chrono Package; the latter includes the push-to-pass function, which gives drivers a 10-second shot of 120 horsepower. (Basically, digital NOS.) Porsche Active Ride is also available, the preternaturally gifted setup that defeats basically all body roll. The S also includes the Track driving mode which pre-conditions the battery, and borrows the Turbo's oil cooling for its rear electric motor.
2027 Porsche Cayenne S Electric: All the Details
Debuting alongside the Cayenne S is a new Interior Style package, available on all Cayenne Electric models. This first pack pairs with the Cayenne's Mystic Green Metallic exterior paint, ratcheting up the hue in the cabin with a hazy Delgada Green leather on the 14-way power-adjustable seats, along the center console, and the door panels. The contrast stitching comes in the same hue. A more intense Izabal Green picks up the accents throughout: the steering wheel center, the drive mode selector, and the Sport Chrono stopwatch. Even the car key gets the color. We particularly like the minimalist Porsche crests in the headrests.
The 2027 Porsche Cayenne S is now available to order, starting from $128,650 ($145,350 CAD) including destination, with deliveries set to begin this summer.
AutoGuide's Take:
We all knew an S trim was a given for the Cayenne Electric, and it slots in right about where we'd expect in pricing and performance: slightly above the existing plug-in Cayenne S E-hybrid. Yep, it's pricey, but that's just the name of the game when you're shopping Stuttgart's wares. The big question is where the inevitable GTS will slot in: there's a big gap between this model's 657 hp and the Turbo's epic 1,139 hp.

No one I know including myself will buy an EV Porsche. If it's not ICE Porsche the majority will look at other brands.
