VIDEO: Mini Countryman SE ALL4 vs Volvo EX30 Dual Motor

The Mini Countryman Electric and Volvo EX30 are two of the latest small European crossovers offering fully electric powertrains, distinct styling, and premium features. Both models aim to balance city-friendly dimensions with enough practicality for everyday use, but they take different approaches to design, performance, and technology.
Both crossovers deliver European flair in a small, urban-friendly package, but the Countryman leans into quirky charm and premium branding, while the EX30 focuses on clean design and high performance. If you’re after a compact electric SUV with personality, either could be a compelling choice.
Mike Schlee and Kyle Patrick recently had a chance to test both models head to head. Check out the video embedded below:
The Mini Countryman Electric embraces the brand’s iconic retro-futuristic styling while scaling up in size compared to its predecessor. It offers two powertrain options: the Countryman E with 188 hp and the Countryman SE ALL4 with 308 hp and all-wheel drive. A 64.7 kWh battery provides a range of up to 287 miles (WLTP), and the interior now features a large circular OLED touchscreen as its centerpiece.
Meanwhile, the Volvo EX30 takes a minimalist Scandinavian approach, featuring clean lines, a sustainable interior with recycled materials, and a high-tech user experience built around a 12.3-inch vertical touchscreen. The EX30 is available in single-motor (268 hp, rear-wheel drive) and twin-motor (422 hp, all-wheel drive) versions, with a 64 kWh battery offering up to 275 miles of range (EPA-estimated).
