Nearly 420,000 Ford Vehicles Recalled for Seat Belt Problem
Ford is recalling 419,967 full-size SUVs in the United States because the front seat belts may not operate properly in a crash.
The recall covers certain 2018-2022 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The issue involves the seat belt pretensioner for the driver or front passenger seat. In affected vehicles, the pretensioner may unintentionally lock the belt, preventing it from extending or retracting as designed.
If that happens, the belt may not properly restrain the occupant, increasing the risk of injury in a collision. Ford dealers will inspect the affected seat belt retractors and replace them if needed. The repair will be performed free of charge.
Owners can check whether their vehicle is included by entering the VIN on the NHTSA recall website or through Ford’s owner portal once recall information is posted.
