2019-2023 Ford Ranger – Review, Specs, Pricing, Videos and More

Price | $27,400 - $35,500 |
Engine | 2.3-liter turbo 4-cylinder |
Power | 270 hp |
Torque | 310 lb-ft. |
Drivetrain | RWD / 4WD |
Ford’s Mid-size truck made a return in 2019, slotting in below the ultra popular full-size F-150. Although the Ranger never gained the popularity of its bigger sibling, it remained a good alternative as a smaller truck.
Only one engine was available during its run, a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that made a respectable 270 hp.

2023 Ford Ranger XLT Review
If the 2023 Ford Ranger XLT taught me anything, it’s that mid-sized trucks are the new workhorses for regular people.
Fleet buyers still go for full-sized rigs in their most cost-efficient forms, while the public snaps them up in luxo-barge trims with increasing frequency. What about those who don’t want to captain a bejeweled battleship?
Don’t let those shiny chrome wheels fool you: this is not a fancy truck. The Ranger has dropped down the sales charts against an influx of new or significantly revised competition—not to mention its hyper-affordable little brother Maverick—but for those who need a no-nonsense pickup capable of regular truck tasks, in a more approachable scale, this veteran still appeals.

2021 Ford Ranger Raptor, Sorry, Tremor Review
North America has been waiting for the Ford Ranger Raptor with bated breath. But it will not happen for a while.
Unfortunately, the mid-sizer with Ford’s most sought-after truck badge is still some time away. Ford does offer the Ranger Raptor in Europe and the UK, complete with coil springs—and it’s not just a sticker job.
That foreign-market Raptor only comes with a twin-turbo 2.0-liter diesel, but it also gets aluminum front control arms and ditches the rear leaf springs in favor of a Watt’s linkage with coil-overs for better off-road performance. While we lament the lack of a Ranger Raptor in the North American lineup, Ford extends an olive branch in the form of the 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor. It might technically be “just a package,” but it adds enough off-roading equipment to seriously bump up the Ranger’s off-tarmac chops.
Ford Ranger vs Toyota Tacoma: Which Mid-size Pickup is Right For You?
While the Toyota Tacoma outsells everything in the mid-size pickup truck market, it doesn’t do so uncontested.
Honda and Nissan both make trucks to rival the Tacoma. And in recent years the big three American automakers have also re-entered the segment with their own offerings.
Ford returned in 2019 after a hiatus of almost eight years with an all-new resurrected Ranger. Ford offers the Ranger with a solitary powertrain and three core trims. But we suppose that’s the blue oval playing it safe after being out of the game for so long. But having said that, the Ford Ranger is available in SuperCab and SuperCrew configurations. Ford also offers an off-road-centric FX4 and an even more hardcore Tremor package. Interestingly, both rival the Tacoma’s Trail and TRD Pro trims perfectly, so does that make the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger perfect rivals?
Chevrolet Colorado vs Ford Ranger: Which Truck Is Right For You?
When it comes to American rivalries few are as longstanding as the one between the two Detroit giants, Ford and GM.
There is no segment on the entire continent that doesn’t have these two marquees fighting for control. The rivalry is especially fierce in the workhorse pickup truck segment. Be it full-sizers or heavy duties, both companies have options to rival the other. And things are no different in the mid-size pickup arena. Where Chevrolet has its tried and tested Colorado armed with three powertrains two transmission options and a hardcore off-road ZR2 trim, the newer Ford Ranger keeps it simple (for now) with a solitary powertrain and a more modern interior.
While both offer almost full-sizer levels of capability, they both have their pros and cons. But which one should you go for? We give you a complete breakdown to help you choose the right one.
Ford F-150 vs Ranger: Which Truck is Right for You?
It’s good to be king. Despite the competition that is better than ever, the Ford F-Series truck perennially remains the most popular vehicle in America
While the new 2021 F-150 with its new hybrid powertrain and a myriad of trims is more than adept at catering to all customers looking for a full-sized pickup, Ford has only recently stepped up its game in the re-emerging mid-size pickup truck market. After watching the Toyota Tacoma harvest healthy sales – and profits – out of its Tacoma mid-sizer, suits at the Glass House have got back in the game with the Ranger. It might be a size smaller compared to the F-150 but it is as capable and sometimes more suited to a situation than its full-size elder brother.
