2024 Ford Ranger Packs More Power, Tech, and Capability
The 2024 Ford Ranger brings back the V6, and borrows tech from its F-150 big brother.
Ford on Wednesday morning revealed the 2024 Ford Ranger for the North American market ( including the Ranger Raptor). The mid-sized truck first debuted well over a year ago for other markets, but now we know how the pickup will line up with the segment when it begins arriving in dealerships this summer.
The Ranger rides on a revised version of the existing platform. That has allowed Ford to keep the dimensions tidy: the wheelbase is now 128.7 inches (3,269 millimeters), an increase of 1.9 inches (48 mm). The full length is now a hair shorter, however, while width and height are up around one and three inches (28 and 84 mm), respectively. Despite these changes, the SuperCrew models—the only body style this generation—are ever so slightly lighter than the outgoing model. The increased width allows for more space between the wheel arches: owners can now lay four-foot items down back there. There’s also more standard grown clearance: 9.3 inches (236 mm) for the rear-drive model, and 10.4 inches (264 mm) for the 4×4.

2024 Ford Ranger Raptor is a Dino Of a Different Size
The 2024 Ford Ranger gets the full Raptor treatment with 405 horsepower and dune-jumping potential.
Ford on Wednesday revealed the redesigned, North American-market Ranger. In addition, it confirmed the details on the 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor you see here, a rip-roaring, 405-horsepower dune-blaster that elevates the mid-sized pickup to dino status for the first time on these shores.
The Ranger Raptor benefits from all the same improvements Ford has wrought on the rest of its mid-sizer lineup. The revised platform sees added width and stiffness, while the modernized styling makes for increased ground clearance and improved angles of attack out on the trails. So far, so good. On top of that, Ford’s engineers have given the Raptor its own dedicated FOX 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass shocks. Coilovers up front and piggyback reservoirs at the rear, these fancy items minimize heat build-up. Ford has also reinforced the frame rails, shock towers, rear shock brackets, and more.
