The Nissan Sentra is a compact sedan that blends updated design with a range of standard and available technologies. It is offered in four grades: S, SV, SR, and the reintroduced SL.

The exterior styling features an evolved V-motion grille, new slim projector LED headlights, and character lines intended to give the car a lower, more stable appearance. Aerodynamic efficiency was considered in the design, influencing the shape of the trunk, side mirrors, and underbody panels. Wheel options are available in 16, 17, or 18-inch diameters. The sporty SR grade receives a unique front fascia, black side sills, a rear spoiler, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin offers an available class-exclusive dual 12.3-inch display system for instrumentation and infotainment. A segment-first touch-sensitive climate control panel is also available, though physical buttons for core functions are retained. A 12.3-inch center screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard. Available amenities include an eight-speaker Bose audio system, 64-color customizable ambient lighting, wireless phone charging, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats.

All Sentra models are powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four engine producing 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque, paired with an Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). The chassis utilizes an independent multi-link rear suspension and standard four-wheel disc brakes. The unibody has 6% greater rigidity than its predecessor. Standard safety is provided by Nissan Safety Shield 360, with features like Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Prevention.

What’s New for 2026

The 2026 model marks an all-new generation for the Sentra, featuring a complete exterior and interior redesign. The SL grade rejoins the lineup with features like a heated steering wheel and quilted synthetic leather seats. New technology includes the available dual 12.3-inch screens, the myQ Universal Garage Door Opener, and idle stop/start. Driver-assistance is enhanced with the addition of Blind Spot Intervention and available ProPILOT Assist. The Xtronic CVT has been retuned for smoother acceleration.

It’s not a full five-days-a-week expectation anymore, which is good, since you moved further out of town. You need a sensible set of wheels, whether it’s to brave downtown, or even just shoot over to the nearby train station.

There are few cars more sensible than the Toyota Corolla. The perennial best-seller saw a useful round of updates for this year.
