Pioneer's Heritage Collection Revives Retro Style With Modern Tech
Few things are as powerful as nostalgia. Feeling that retro vibe, the folks at Pioneer have introduced a new Heritage Collection, pairing a head unit with speakers to bring period-correct '80s and '90s styling to classic-car cabins with modern connectivity built in. The lineup debuts publicly at Hagerty's RADwood NorCal where Pioneer is the event's Official Sound Partner.
At the center of the lineup is the SXT-C10PS head unit, priced at $499. Its single-DIN, period-correct faceplate takes its cues from Pioneer's classic KEH-series. Standard features include Bluetooth, HD Radio, SiriusXM readiness, and custom EQ. Pioneer positions it for owners of 1980s and 1990s classics such as BMW E30s and Porsche 911s who want a modernized dash that avoids the mismatched look of a typical aftermarket unit.
The $299 TS-X40SXT speakers draw directly from the look that debuted with the TS-X60 in 1984. The surface-mount 3-way box speaker keeps the wire-mesh grille and dark silver finish, and its deep-profile cellulose fiber cone woofers pair with a double-slit bass-reflex enclosure for fuller bass. A larger-diameter cellulose fiber cone tweeter brings out detail across the mid-to-high range.
"For over 80 years, Pioneer has left its mark on car audio, and that history still runs through everything we build today," said Larry Rougas, EVP and Chief Revenue Officer at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. "With the Heritage Collection, we're going back to our roots, the iconic designs that defined a generation of drivers, and pairing them with the technology those same drivers rely on now. Our goal was to make that history feel present again, not behind glass, but back on the road."
Hagerty CMO Marc Burns framed the tie-in around the event's era focus. "RADwood celebrates the cars and culture of the '80s and '90s, taking people back to a simpler time when pop-up headlights and neon ruled," Burns said. "And now Pioneer is in on the fun with us, launching the Heritage collection that merges period-correct RAD design with the very latest technology."
Both the SXT-C10PS and TS-X40SXT can be pre-ordered only through usa.pioneer beginning Oct. 20, 2026, with sales reaching authorized retailers and dealers in November 2026.
