Toyota Tacoma – Review, Specs, Pricing, Features, Videos and More
Find everything you need to know about the Toyota Tacoma here, along with expert reviews, specs, photos, videos and more.
There’s an all-new Toyota Tacoma on sale and it’s quite a bit different than the current model. Looking like a scaled down model of the full-size Tundra, the mid-size Tacoma offers a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with or without a hybrid assist. The latter makes 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque.
Of course, there are rugged versions of the Tacoma for those that like to go off road. The best news though may be that a six-speed manual is still available.

Toyota Tacoma Overview
The Toyota Tacoma is built on the TNGA-F global truck platform, which it shares with other Toyota models like the Tundra and Land Cruiser. It is available in numerous trims, including SR, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, TRD Pro, and the overlanding-focused Trailhunter.
Buyers can choose between two powertrains. The standard i-FORCE is a 2.4L turbocharged engine providing up to 278 horsepower and 317 lb.-ft. of torque. A six-speed intelligent manual transmission is available on select i-FORCE models. The available i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain, which is standard on TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims, delivers up to 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Drivetrain options include 2WD, part-time 4WD, and a full-time 4WD system that is standard on i-FORCE MAX Limited models.
Most Tacoma grades feature a coil spring multi-link rear suspension. Individual trims receive specific suspension tuning. The Limited grade features an Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) for a smoother ride, while the TRD Off-Road uses Bilstein piggyback reservoir shocks. The TRD Pro is equipped with TRD-tuned FOX QS3 adjustable shocks and segment-first IsoDynamic Performance Front Seats. The Trailhunter features Old Man Emu 2.5-inch forged monotube shocks.
Inside, the Tacoma offers an available 14-inch multimedia touchscreen and comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
What’s New for 2026
For the 2026 model year, the Tacoma introduces two new colors: Heritage Blue and the TRD Pro-exclusive Wave Maker. A black front logo is new for the TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, and TRD Pre-Runner trims. The TRD Off-Road i-FORCE Premium Package is updated with 18-inch TRD wheels and 32-inch Goodyear All-Terrain tires. Additionally, a tow hitch is now standard on SR XtraCab models.
Climbing a Mountain in the Latest Toyota Hybrid Trucks
When someone asks you if you're up for climbing a mountain, the answer is always yes.
It's a pretty easy decision for a few reasons. First off, it's regular AutoGuide contributor Jeff Wilson who is doing the asking. Another factor in his favor: it's British Columbia. Topping it all off is an epic road trip in two of the newest members of Toyota's truck family: the reborn Land Cruiser and the adventure-ready Tacoma Trailhunter. Sign me the heck up.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Hybrid First Drive Review: Fun Will Cost You
If there’s one defining feature of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter, it’s the sound.
This is a new trim for Tacoma, one of two to go exclusively hybrid as part of the fourth-generation truck’s lineup. We’re bombing around a trail just a few miles North of the Mexican border. A high-mount intake snaking along the passenger-side window gives us front-row seats to the controlled chaos underhood. Despite an additional cylinder and nearly a full liter of displacement, this spicy Taco soundtrack gives GR Corolla vibes. The connection isn’t just audible either: out in the dirt, both the Trailhunter and returning TRD Pro share the hot hatch’s excited-puppy attitude.
Forget your preconceived notions about what hybrid means, because here in Taco-town, it’s all about fun and desire. Just be prepared to pay big money to satisfy those wants.

2024 Toyota Tacoma First Drive Review: Modern Meal
How do you revamp a product that claims almost 40 percent of its segment? If you’re Toyota: carefully.
Don’t get me wrong, the 2024 Toyota Tacoma is a wholly new product: platform, engines, tech—you name it. For this fourth-gen mid-size truck, the brand has taken a detail-oriented focus, keeping the feel and broad spectrum of flavors the Taco has enjoyed for years, with a modern twist.
Toyota invited AutoGuide down to a ranch in the hills outside of Malibu to sample the new Taco. After a full day of driving on road and off, here's what we found.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Hands-On Preview: Adds Hybrid and Trailhunter, Keeps Manual
New Tacoma will come in eight trims; TRD Pro is a standard hybrid, arrives early 2024.
Toyota late Thursday evening debuted the 2024 Toyota Tacoma on Hawaii’s big island. You might think coming all the way out here for a reveal is a little extra, but you underestimate the importance of the Taco. (AutoGuide is also here to drive the new 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander, which you can read/watch about in the near future.)
Think of the Tacoma as Toyota’s F-150. Actually, this mid-sizer is a bigger deal than that; the Tacoma snatches up over 39 percent of its segment, and the Blue Oval’s best-seller only manages 32 in the full-size market. Pfft, slacker. The Tacoma is the best-selling vehicle in Hawaii—not truck, vehicle. Needless to say, this is an important model for Toyota, and the Japanese brand is coming correct with eight trims, a new hybrid powertrain, a wild patent-pending seat—and some classic features for a healthy dose of fan-service.
