Volvo Discontinues V60 Cross Country in North America

And just like that, Volvo has become another all-SUV brand in Canada and the US.

Well bah humbug. Hours before the big guy is set to do his yearly sleigh ride, Volvo has dropped a bunch of coal in the stockings of North American wagon enthusiasts. As of April 2026, the V60 Cross Country will cease production for both the Canadian and US markets, marking the end of decades of Volvo wagon sales in both countries.

Volvo calls this adjustment "bittersweet," but notes that the market "overwhelmingly" favors SUVs. The writing was on the wall: not only did the regular V60 disappear a few months ago, but it followed the discontinuation of V90 as well as the S60 sedan. To put it into perspective, Volvo moved just 2859 V60s in all of 2024, barely 10-percent of the number of XC40s it moved in the same time, to say nothing of the better-selling XC60 and XC90.

There is a brief bit of hope: Volvo's statement says the company is wrapping up orders for "this generation of Volvo wagons," suggesting we could get future long-roofs. For now however, the brand will join the likes of Buick and Infiniti by having a completely car-less lineup.

For now, buyers who are interested in snapping up a V60 Cross Country have until the end of January to put in an order. That said, Volvo expects dealers to retain stock for a few months beyond that. Pricing for the 2026 V60 CC starts at $53,495 ($65,020 CAD) including destination.

Dang. I owned 142's, 144's, 244's, the Bertone, and lastly the little C30 turbo five.

I don't particularly like any of their SUV offerings. Guess they are off my list now as well. (unless they build a retro P1800)!
