What Does Toyota's GR Celica Trademark Mean?

Toyota is preparing to bring back the Celica, and it seems like a high-performance variant could be part of the plan.
A GR Celica trademark was filed in Brazil on January 15, 2025, and published in early February, suggesting Toyota is looking to add a new addition to its Gazoo Racing lineup.
The trademark filing doesn’t provide many details beyond classifying the GR Celica under “automobiles and their structural parts.” No other known filings for the GR Celica have surfaced, but Toyota has been actively renewing Celica trademarks worldwide, including in the United States, where a filing from 2021 was officially published in November 2024.
The GR Celica is expected to slot in next to the next-gen GR 86, with reports suggesting a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder could be under the hood, possibly making 400 horsepower with all-wheel drive. That setup would make sense given Toyota’s existing GR-Four system, which already sees use in the GR Yaris and GR Corolla and could serve as a resurrection of the Celica GT-Four ethos.
Despite these indications, Toyota has yet to officially confirm the Celica reboot— despite Toyota’s executive vice president Yuki Nakajima exclaiming "We're doing the Celica" at a public event. The company has declined to comment on rumors or trademark filings.

The best Celica Toyota ever built was the 1991 Celica GT. I highly doubt they have the prowess to build such a good looking, durable, economical, and easy to maintain vehicle any more.
