Subaru has officially confirmed the name of its next electric vehicle: Trailseeker. Details are still limited, but the new SUV will be unveiled at the 2025 New York International Auto Show next week.

According to Subaru, the 2026 Trailseeker EV will be an “adventure-ready sidekick,” which likely points to something smaller than the Solterra.

There's speculation that the Trailseeker may share underpinnings with Toyota’s upcoming CH-R+, continuing the collaboration between the two brands that already produced the Solterra and Toyota bZ4X. If that's the case, the Trailseeker could offer similar powertrain configurations, including both front- and all-wheel drive, battery capacities ranging from 57.7 to 77.0 kWh, and outputs between 165 and 338 horsepower.

Toyota’s CH-R+ is expected to offer up to 270 miles of range and 150-kW peak charging, suggesting a more capable setup than the Solterra’s current specs.

More information will be available following its debut in New York. AutoGuide will be live on site with all the details.
