Scout Motors Debuts 2027 Traveler SUV and Terra Pickup
Scout is reviving its legacy with a pair of new electric off-roaders, the Traveler SUV and Terra truck, inspired by the International Harvester models that ran from 1961 to 1980.
The new Scout lineup brings serious off-road capability to the EV space, sporting a proprietary body-on-frame platform, with options for up to 35-inch tires, more than a foot of ground clearance, and a solid rear axle. Impressively, both models are targeting ranges of up to 350 miles on battery alone, with an optional “Harvester” generator extending that range to over 500 miles.
2027 Scout Traveler SUV: All The Details
Scout’s new models boast nearly 1,000 lb-ft of torque, aiming for a 0-60 mph time as quick as 3.5 seconds, though detailed power specs haven’t been confirmed. Built for serious towing and payload, the Traveler SUV can tow over 7,000 pounds, while the Terra truck tops 10,000 pounds, each with up to 2,000 lbs of payload capacity.
They also include off-road essentials like a front sway bar disconnect, front and rear mechanical lockers, and water-fording capability approaching three feet.
2027 Scout Terra Pickup Truck: All The Details
Inside, Scout integrates tactile controls beneath a large central screen, with a nod to the original Scout II’s straightforward design. A unique bench seat option is available on the Terra, allowing for a more classic truck feel. Scout’s EVs will also use an 800-volt architecture, North American Charging Standard (NACS), and support bi-directional charging, with up to 350 kW charging speeds.
Reservations for the Traveler and Terra are open for $100, with base prices for both vehicles starting under $60,000. However, interested buyers will have to wait, as Scout’s production schedule targets a 2027 release.
