2027 Scout Traveler SUV: All The Details
The 2027 Scout Traveler SUV marks the return of the historic Scout brand, reimagined as an electric off-roader inspired by the original Scout vehicles from the 1960s and 70s. Built on a new proprietary body-on-frame platform, the Traveler is designed to tackle rugged terrain with features like up to 35-inch tires, over 12 inches of ground clearance, and nearly three feet of water-fording capability. Scout’s approach to the Traveler offers a nod to its legacy while integrating modern EV technology for today’s adventurers.
Like the Terra pickup truck, the Traveler is powered by Scout’s electric powertrain. The Traveler is expected to achieve around 350 miles per charge, and it offers an optional range-extending generator—known as the “Harvester”—that boosts the range to over 500 miles. The model also includes the latest EV tech, such as 800-volt architecture, bi-directional charging, and compatibility with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) for up to 350 kW fast charging.
The Traveler boasts a towing capacity of over 7,000 pounds, suitable for outdoor enthusiasts looking to haul gear or trailers. Inside, it embraces a retro-inspired design, with tactile climate controls below a large central display, echoing the Scout II's design cues. A spare tire carrier on the rear and an available 35-inch tire option reflect its off-road emphasis.
Starting in the low $50,000 range with incentives, pre-orders for the Traveler are open with a $100 deposit. Production is set to begin in 2027, positioning the Traveler as a serious contender in the EV off-road market.
