Brembo Buys Ohlins Racing in $405 Million Deal

Brembo has acquired a 100% stake in Ohlins Racing, the company that makes suspension for the aftermarket and big OEMs like Volvo alike. Brembos stake was acquired from Tenneco, Ohlins’ previous steward. "With this addition, we take another step forward in our strategy to provide integrated intelligent solutions to our customers, leveraging synergies across key technologies in the vehicle's corner,” said Brembo Executive Chairman Matteo Tiraboschi.

Brembo is primarily involved in braking technologies in the automotive world, and it’ll be interesting to see what it does with ownership of the suspension company. Both companies have a long history in motorsport, from F1 to MotoGP, to many smaller series across various formats. It’s not clear what the plan is post-acquisition, which should wrap up next year, but the two companies did mention Ohlins’ mechatronic damper tech. Ohlins was bought for $405 million cash.
