Porsche Backs Down On EV Plans

During a Q&A session in its Q3 sales call, Porsche CFO Lutz Meschke said that the company is seeing a "slowdown in the BEV transition and the customer demand is not satisfying overall,” and that many of Porsche’s customers, and those in the luxury segment more broadly, are “looking in the direction of combustion engine cars.”


Porsche, being a company whose primary goal is to sell cars and turn a profit, will cater to this demand. Meschke and the Porsche executive team are giving the company’s R&D department the green light to work on combustion-powered derivatives of EVs. BMW recently said its EV platform would also host combustion-powered models, and it sounds like Porsche is working in the same vein.

However, much of Porsche’s upcoming product is already deep into the development process, and pumping the brakes on cars like the Macan, Boxster, and Cayman likely isn’t a possibility. The Cayenne, meanwhile, will keep its V8 until 2030, and the 911 should stay gas-powered for as long as Porsche can make it work from a regulatory point of view.

    With "all life on the planet at risk due to carbon emission climate change", Porche should be immediately shut down....or forced to build subcompact EVs..."time is running out, it may already be too late!" to save the planet...
