The 2026 Ram 1500 Ramcharger Is Unbelievably Fat

The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger is one of the most anticipated vehicles of the year thanks to its unique extended-range electric powertrain that blends EV performance with a gas-powered range extender. Unlike typical plug-in hybrids, the Ramcharger’s 3.6-liter V6 engine isn’t connected to the wheels. Instead, it serves solely as a generator to charge the 91.8-kWh battery pack that fuels two electric motors.
Key Points
- Ram 1500 Ramcharger weighs 7,507 pounds, it surpasses the TRX and even some HD models.
- 91.8-kWh battery, two electric motors, and a 3.6-liter V6 engine that charges the battery, not the wheels.
- Produces 647 hp and 610 lb-ft of torque, with a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds, 14,000-pound towing capacity, and a 690-mile maximum range.
The configuration comes at a cost—weight.
At 7,507 pounds, the Ramcharger is the heaviest 1500-series truck Ram has ever built, outpacing even the 6,866-pound TRX. But the conquest list doesn't stop there, the Ramcharger even outweighs its much larger 2500 and 3500 HD siblings. An absolutely staggering figure.
The Ramcharger’s substantial weight stems from its large battery pack, 27-gallon fuel tank, air suspension system, and extensive cooling requirements for both the V6 engine and the batteries. Despite tipping the scales at nearly four tons, Ram claims the Ramcharger delivers serious performance: 647 horsepower and 610 pound-feet of torque propel the truck from 0-60 mph in a claimed 4.5 seconds.
7,500 lbs galloping to highway speeds in less than 5 seconds doesn't sound dangerous at all, nope.
Towing capacity is rated at 14,000 pounds, with a payload capacity of 2,625 pounds—both leading figures for the Ram 1500 lineup. Notably, these power numbers are slightly lower than initial estimates from Ram’s 2023 reveal. The adjustment was made to optimize range, which now stands at a claimed 690 miles when combining the battery charge and full fuel tank.
Pricing details remain under wraps, though speculation suggests a starting point in the mid-$60,000 range. If accurate, this could position the Ramcharger as a compelling option in the full-size truck segment, blending robust towing capabilities with extended electric range. Ram expects deliveries to begin in the second half of 2025.

You "fat shame" the Ramcharger but give the Hummer EV pickup a full pass? The Hummer EV pickup weighs 1,500 lbs MORE than the Ramcharger, tows 2,000 lbs LESS, payload is 1,440 lbs LESS than Ramcharger. Perhaps next time you can do some basic research and provide valuable context instead of your emotional reaction to the Ramcharger's weight.
Imagine what a maintenance nightmare this monstrosity will become at the 5 and 10+ year mark. So, market research determined this is what customers want? Funny because everyone I've showed this to laughs and says no thanks. Oh, and who would've guessed "saving the planet from Climate Change" would come in the form of a 7500lb EV sporting a V6 gas generator.
