Stellantis has issued a recall for 21,069 vehicles, specifically affecting the 2024 Dodge Hornet and 2024-2025 Alfa Romeo Tonale.

The recall addresses a potentially dangerous defect with the brake pedal which can cause the brake pedal to collapse without warning, posing a serious risk of brake failure. While no injuries have been reported, one accident occurred due to the defect.

The recall fix is simple and involves the installation of a bolt and nut to reinforce the brake assembly. The repair takes only 30 minutes and is available free of charge at Dodge and Alfa Romeo dealerships. FCA advises drivers to use the electronic parking brake if they experience brake failure while driving, as it remains functional and can bring the vehicle to a stop. Additionally, the automatic emergency braking system will still operate even if the pedal collapses.

The recall predominantly affects Dodge Hornets, with 16,960 units involved. Stellantis initiated an investigation in late September 2024, after receiving reports of brake failures, with the first incident dating back to November 2023.
