Stellantis NV has issued a recall for approximately 1.46 million Ram 1500 trucks due to a software issue that could potentially disable key safety systems, including the electronic stability control.

The affected models are from the 2019, and 2021-2024 model years. Most impacted trucks are in North America, with an additional 61,000 vehicles subject to international recall.

The software glitch affects several key safety features, causing the adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, antilock braking system, and electronic stability control indicator lights to illuminate. While the foundation brake system remains functional, the vehicle could potentially fail to meet U.S. federal motor standards, which require a fully operational electronic stability control system.

Stellantis will address the issue by providing a free software update to affected customers, who will be notified by mail.
