Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4xe Will Share Powertrain With Ramcharger

It’s going to be a busy year for Jeep.
At the drive event for the brand’s first North American electric model—the impressive Wagoneer S—head of Jeep brand Bob Broderdorf outlined the brand's 2025 plans.
The Wagoneer EV is just the tip of the spear, with a product offensive representing 3.2 billion dollars in investment. The lineup will include more electrified offerings—Broderdorf confirmed what we suspected when the Grand Wagoneer 4xe was first announced last spring: it will use a version of the range-extending setup found in the upcoming Ram 1500 Ramcharger.
"The Grand Wagoneer that I talked about… you will see the range extender come in by the end of the year, and how this begins to complement [Wagoneer S],” said Broderdorf. Like the Ramcharger, the Grand Wagoneer 4xe will use the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 as a generator to power a pair of electric motors and a 92.0-kilowatt-hour battery pack.
The gas engine never sends power to the wheels—only the electric motors—totaling 663 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. Ram is expecting up to 690 miles of range (1,110 kilometers). The Ramcharger was recently given priority at Ram ahead of the all-electric 1500 REV. The Ramcharger is expected to launch in Q2 ahead of the standard range 1500 REV which has been pushed back until 2026.
That isn’t it for the year, either. The brand’s bread-and-butter Grand Cherokee will come in for a facelift and refresh, with Brodendorf teasing that the update will “continue to expand our powertrain lineup.” The smart money has Stellantis' versatile Hurricane inline-six showing up under the hood.
The Grand Cherokee could also get a regular hybrid to complement the existing 4xe plug-in as well. Jeep has already confirmed that the smaller model meant to slot in underneath the GC this year—possibly carrying the Cherokee name—will have one, after all. That model is still planned for a debut before the end of the year.
“This is how 2025 will be one of the most iconic years in the brand’s history,” said Broderdorf. With most of the brand’s models touched up over the next 12 months.
