The Corvette Has A New Boss
Tony Roma will succeed Tadge Jeuchter as the head of the Corvette development team, effective July 1.
Previously, Roma served as the chief engineer for the Cadillac Celestiq. His new responsibilities as Corvette Boss will also include overseeing General Motors' luxury and performance car teams.
Roma brings over 30 years of experience at General Motors, including work on the Corvette. He has also led the development of recent Cadillac models such as the CT5, the CT6, the Blackwings, and the V-Series cars. His extensive background in performance vehicles positions him well for his new role with Team Corvette. Roma is certified as a GM Level 6 driver, the highest level achievable internally, and has already looped the Nürburgring more than 1,500 times.
Jeuchter is retiring after a 47-year career with General Motors. He has been involved with the Corvette since 1993 and became the car's chief engineer in 2006. Roma acknowledged that Jeuchter left a significant legacy, and he expressed his commitment to continuing that legacy with his team.
Following the debut of the ZR1, the focus will shift to the rumored Zora, expected to feature 1,000 horsepower and all-wheel drive. There have also been ongoing rumors about Chevrolet possibly expanding the Corvette lineup to include an SUV, akin to the Mustang Mach-E.
