Hyundai pulled the wraps off its redesigned three-row SUV, which debuts a sharp, angular design, an optional hybrid powertrain, and a new XRT Pro trim level for off-road enthusiasts.

Key Points

  • The 2026 Hyundai Palisade debuts a sharper, more angular design, with a longer wheelbase and body length that offer increased interior space compared to the outgoing model.
  • A new hybrid powertrain joins the lineup, producing an estimated 329 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque, with improved fuel economy but reduced towing capacity compared to the standard V6.
  • Hyundai introduces the off-road-focused XRT Pro trim with increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, AWD with terrain modes, and distinctive styling details inside and out.

The 2026 Hyundai Palisade represents a significant departure for the Korean automaker’s popular three-row crossover. In place of the previous model’s rounded corners and swoopy design is a sharp, angular look that emphasises width from the front and side profile. The 2026 Palisade’s front overhang is reduced by 40 millimeters while its longer overall length (+65mm) and wheelbase (+70mm) equal more interior space than before, particularly for rear passengers (though we don’t yet have official dimensions).

Hyundai will offer two powertrain options for the 2026 Palisade. Standard is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 287 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. The V6 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada, all Palisade models will feature all-wheel drive, though it’s optional in the United States.

New for 2026 is an available hybrid powertrain that spins out an estimated combined total system output of 329 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque. Though it’s more powerful than the standard gasoline-fueled engine, the hybrid’s towing capacity is limited to 4,000 pounds, a meaningful reduction from the standard version’s 5,000-pound limit.

On the positive side, Hyundai is estimating that the Palisade hybrid will achieve fuel efficiency of 7.0L/100 km (around 33.6 miles per gallon) on the highway, which should equal a range of more than 900 kilometres (around 560 miles).

Besides the new hybrid powertrain, the other big news for 2026 is the addition of a Palisade XRT Pro model. With an extra inch of ground clearance (up to 8.4 inches or 25 millimeters), all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels and a standard all-wheel-drive system with Mud, Sand, and Snow terrain modes, the Palisade XRT Pro promises solid off-road capability.

The XRT Pro is distinguished by orange recovery hooks, dark exterior accents for the grille, window surrounds and body cladding, and unique badging on the outside. The cabin boasts unique leatherette seating surfaces.

Hyundai will equip the 2026 Palisade with a full suite of Advanced Driver Assist Systems, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist, Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, Lane Following Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.

Pricing for the 2026 Palisade is not yet available, but production for internal-combustion models will begin in the early summer of 2025. Hybrid-powered Palisade models will follow in the early fall.
