The Tesla Roadster has once again been delayed—but you'll be forgiven if you forgot it even existed.

The latest delay continues a saga that began in 2017 when the roadster was first unveiled as a concept. Originally, Elon Musk projected that the electric supercar would hit the streets by 2020. That deadline came and went, with Musk later promising a 2024 delivery.

However, in a recent shareholders meeting, Musk confirmed that the highly anticipated Roadster won't be arriving in 2024 either, pushing the timeline back once again. During the meeting, Musk acknowledged the delays and implied that while the car is important, it's not a priority compared to Tesla's larger goals related to broader societal impact.

When it finally arrives, the Roadster is expected to push the boundaries of performance. The original concept boasted a quad-motor setup delivering over 1,000 horsepower, with claims that it could accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than two seconds.
