The 2025 Porsche Macan EV Goes Rear-Wheel Drive

Originally, the Macan EV came in two flavors: the all-wheel drive Macan 4 and the high-powered AWD Macan Turbo. Now, Porsche has fleshed out the lineup, adding a new rear-drive base Macan EV and a hotter Macan 4S designed to fit between the Macan 4 and Turbo. Entry-level rear-drive Macans, simply called the Macan, will make use of the same 95kWh battery as the Macan 4, powering a single motor on the rear axle. Porsche says the base Macan will produce 355 horsepower, but a launch-control overboost function can pump that figure to 355 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 is, as a result, a quick 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 136 mph. Porsche makes no mention of range for either, but the base Macan will at least be 243 pounds lighter than the Macan 4, which should help out.

As for the Macan 4S, Porsche takes the front motor from the Turbo and 4 models, fitting it to the 4S’ rear axle, resulting in more power. The Macan 4S also has an overboost function, but its base power output is set at 442 hp. The resulting 509 hp and 578 lb-ft of torque in overboost nets a 3.9-second 0-60 run and on to a top speed of 149 mph. Together, the new rear and all-wheel drive Macans benefit from standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (adaptive air suspension) with optional rear-steer.

There are aesthetic updates in store for 2025 Macans as well. Namely, the Macan EV will come with a new Slate Grey Neo color, and a new 20-inch wheel will also be on offer. Porsche has a new “off-road design” package for the EV with a new bumper netting an improved 17.5-degree approach angle. A new air suspension setting adds a measly .4-inch of ground clearance. There are also grey accents applied to the bumper, side skirts, diffuser, and roof rails (you can also opt for body color here if you’d like). While Porsche offers 21-inch off-road wheels, it's clear this is an aesthetic package not meant for serious off-roading. The new base Macan starts at $77,295 with the Macan 4S starting life at $86,895 before any of Porsche’s many optional extras.
