Consumer Reports recently conducted its first survey focused on used vehicles by brand.
Toyota and its luxury division, Lexus, emerged as the top choices for buyers prioritizing dependability, but Honda and Acura also performed well in the rankings.
The survey, which covered over 150,000 vehicles, aimed to identify reliability trends in cars from the 2014 to 2019 model years. It considered 20 potential trouble areas, such as brakes, engines, transmissions, and EV batteries. The data collected was used to calculate an overall reliability score based on owner-reported issues across six model years.
