2025 Lucid Air is Even More Efficient, Keeps Same Base Price
The Air Pure now (officially) hits a remarkable 5.0 miles per kilowatt hour.
Lucid on Tuesday announced the latest evolution of its all-electric Air sedan. The American model sees another round of updates for 2025, improving the efficiency and infotainment.
Citing nothing more than "further enhancements of Lucid's groundbreaking technology," the company has achieved a benchmark 5.0 miles (8.05 kilometers) per kilowatt hour in the entry-level Air Pure. That translates to an EPA-estimated 420 miles (676 km) of range from an 84.0-kWh battery pack, or a 146 MPGe rating. (We'll argue MPGe is a silly measurement, but that's for another time.)
Lucid's press release expands on the knock-on effect of extracting more efficiency from the same battery capacity: reducing weight, enabling production of more cars from a set quantity of raw materials, and a lower demand on public grids while charging. Basically, the old Colin Chapman ideal (simplify, add lightness) applied to inherently heavy things. Neat.
The 2025 Airs should be more consistent in hitting these efficiency figures too, as all models now have a compact heat pump as standard. This was previously only on the Air Sapphire and Grand Touring.
Inside, all '25 models include a new infotainment heart, with three times the processing power and twice the memory of the last iteration. This should translate to a speedier infotainment setup—not that the current car is lacking anymore, after consistent updates over the last few years have turned it into quite a good one.
We recently spent time in a 2024 Lucid Air Pure and found this new figure attainable even then. We can only imagine how much range people will eke out of the new model without much effort.
Despite these improvements, the '25 Air Pure maintains its $71,400 (including destination) base price in America. The $80,400 Touring and $112,400 Grand Touring represent an even $1,000 increase. Canadian pricing is $96,800, $109,300, and $152,300, respectively; the Pure holds steady here, while the other two trims bump up $1,500 CAD. The 2025 model year cars are available to order as of today.
