Honda Recalls 200,000 Pilot And Passport SUVs
Honda’s latest recall affects over 205,000 of its SUVs.
Specifically 2023-2025 Pilots and 2023-2024 Passports. according to NHTSA, the filler neck tube and pipe might not be properly connected. That’s most likely fine under normal circumstances, but in the event of a crash, the weak connection could become a failure point, potentially leading to a fuel leak.
Honda has traced the problem to an out-of-sequence assembly process, which has since been corrected. While only about 1 percent of the recalled vehicles are believed to be affected.
The first sign of trouble surfaced on May 13, 2024, when a dealer flagged the issue during a pre-delivery inspection. Within a week, Honda found six more vehicles with improperly connected fuel pipes in its inventory, triggering an investigation.
So far, Honda has only received one warranty claim related to the issue but no reports of injuries. The automaker will begin notifying affected owners by mail on January 6, 2025. Repairs, which involve inspecting and correcting the fuel filler assembly, will be performed free of charge.
