Stolen Corvettes For Sale At Pop-Up Shop In Lowe's Parking Lot

An audacious theft at the Corvette Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, has landed one person in custody, with authorities still searching for additional suspects. According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, a group of thieves made off with eight brand-new Chevrolet Corvettes last week.
Key Points
- Thieves cut through a fence to access the facility and stole eight new vehicles from the Corvette assembly plant in Kentucky.
- 21-year-old Deantae Walker from Michigan was arrested after allegedly attempting to move the stolen cars. Authorities are still searching for additional suspects.
- The stolen Corvettes were found within a few miles of the plant, including some reportedly being offered for sale in a Lowe’s parking lot.
The heist came to light when someone snitched to the Warren County sheriff’s department that a new maroon Corvette was parked suspiciously at the Laurel Ridge Apartments. The car still had factory stickers and protective coverings, prompting the deputy to contact the Bowling Green Police Department. At the time, BGPD had no reports of any missing vehicles. A quick inventory check by GM officials revealed that eight Corvettes were missing from the facility.
According to a Facebook post by local Corvette salesman Mark Thomas, the thieves gained access to the storage lot by cutting through a fence. Several of the stolen vehicles were located within a few miles of the plant, with some recovered at the apartment complex and others found nearby.
ABC 13 News reported that police intercepted two suspects attempting to relocate the cars out of town. One of them, 21-year-old Deantae Walker of Westland, Michigan, was arrested after a pursuit. He now faces multiple charges, including receiving stolen property valued over $10,000, fleeing or evading police, and resisting arrest.
At least two of the stolen Corvettes were allegedly being offered for sale in a Lowe’s parking lot before police intervened. Local resident Tyson D. Wade shared images to the “ Spotted in Bowling Green” Facebook group showing several new Corvettes, including what appeared to be a 2025 ZR1, along with a BGPD cruiser and a flatbed recovery truck. However, GM later confirmed that the ZR1 in those photos was not one of the stolen vehicles and had been driven by a GM employee.
All eight Corvettes involved in the theft have now been recovered, but the investigation remains active. Police are still working to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the heist. We are living in a truely insane timeline.
