BMW Shows Off Quad-Motor EV M Sedan In New Video
BMW’s electric performance future is starting to take shape.
The brand's current M Performance EVs like the i5 M60 and i7 M70 sit just below full-fat M status, but that's going to change before the end of the decade.
In Episode 1 of the BMW Electried series, the company offers a sneak peek at its electric M prototype based on the i4 M50. The test mule has been heavily worked over with upgraded carbon-ceramic brakes, reinforced bodywork, and all-new subframes required to incorporate the quad-motor setup.
Check it out.
With this setup, power and torque can be adjusted individually for each wheel in milliseconds. That kind of responsiveness brings precision unseen with conventional drivetrains.
You don't have to worry about the M3 losing its combustion engine— BMW already said the next-generation M3 would retain its inline-six and coexist with the quad-motor electric M sedan. The next-gen M3 is expected to show in mid-2028 and will probably end up hybridized and heavy like the contemporary M5.
