2026 Toyota bZ Woodland is a Trail-Seeking EV With Prius Face

Toyota's third EV on these shores is its largest yet, with 375 horsepower, 260 miles (418 kilometers) of range... and a familiar shape.
Toyota is quickly expanding its North American electric vehicle lineup. This week the Japanese brand not only announced improvements to the bZ (nee bZ4X) but also brought back the C-HR as a 338-horsepower, dual-motor EV. Now there's a third model, as the brand has revealed the confusingly-named (and familiar-shaped) 2026 bZ Woodland.
Now "Woodland" isn't new in Toyota town. We've seen it on the RAV4 as well as the Sienna, with broadly similar recipes: some raised ride height here, some nods to adventure there—you get the picture. So imagine our surprise when we opened the images up and didn't see the refreshed bZ riding on tip-toes with all-terrain tires. Instead we saw something longer, something more wagon-like... and a whole lot like the Subaru Trailseeker.
2026 Toyota bZ Woodland: All the Details
Okay, not up front, where the bZ Woodland has the Toyota "hammerhead" design of the last few years. The rest of the package is very familiar however, with the same ample black cladding around the wheel arches and pronounced shoulder lines. Also like the Subaru, the bZ Woodland comes with 8.3 inches (211 millimeters) of ground clearance and (available) all-terrain tires. The Woodland is roughly half a foot longer and an inch taller than the regular bZ, almost all of which goes to better rear-seat accommodations as well as storage space (over 30.0 cubic feet / 850 liters).
Under the skin sits a more powerful version of the twin-motor setup, now producing 375 horsepower. With the same 74.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack, the Woodland is expected to have 260 miles (418 km) of range. Maximum charging speed is 150 kW, for a 10-to-80 state of charge (SoC) time of roughly 30 minutes. Like its siblings, the bZ Woodland comes standard with a NACS port and Plug & Charge capability.
A standard X-Mode now features Grip-Control. In Toyota's words, at low speeds "the system leverages motor drive power modulation to achieve capable off-road performance."
Inside, the cabin has all the same hallmarks of the refreshed bZ. A 14.0-inch touchscreen sits atop a simplified dashboard design, with a rejigged center console featuring two wireless chargers. There will be just one trim for the bZ Woodland at launch, with an available Premium Package adding on a JBL audio system, panoramic roof, ventilated front seats, and the radiant heat feature from the Lexus RZ.
The bZ Woodland will slot into the lineup as a sort of rugged, all-electric sibling to the Crown Signia. While Toyota won't refer to either of them as wagons, we appreciate that, basically, that's what they are. Buyers can expect the 2026 Toyota bZ Woodland in dealerships early next year.
