For the fourth year in a row, the Tesla Model Y was the best-selling electric vehicle in America in 2024.

Tesla’s smallest electric crossover was followed by Tesla’s smallest electric sedan, the Model 3. Ford’s direct competitor to Tesla’s twins, the Mustang Mach-E, came in third. Another Tesla, the recently released Cybertruck, also made it into the top 5, right behind the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Besides Tesla, Ford was the only other automaker to put two vehicles into the top 10 best-selling EV list, though General Motors would count if you’re willing to include Chevrolet and Cadillac under one umbrella. The Rivian R1S sport utility vehicle earned the 10th spot, while its R1T truck sibling was all the way down in 30th.

Full-year sales of all electric vehicles in America last year came to 1.3 million. That’s up 7.3% over 2023 and a new record. Tesla, Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz were the only large automakers to see a decline in EV sales last year. General Motors, Honda, the Hyundai Group and Ford all saw EV sales rise in 2024 compared to the year prior.

    Shouldn't it be VW ID.4,not ID.5? I don't believe the ID.5 is sold here.
