The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is Even Lighter Than the Hardtop
The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider has made its debut in front of the Ferrari-obsessed crowds at the 2018 Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach.
With the track-ready 488 Pista having debuted earlier this year, it was speculated the Italian company was going to roll out a convertible version. The 488 Pista Spider retains all of the important hardware from the hardtop, including the 710 hp twin-turbocharged V8, seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and downforce-producing aero kit. Surprisingly, however, the 488 Pista Spider tips the scales at 3,042 lbs when fitted with optional carbon fiber parts, making it no heavier (and actually a bit lighter) than its fixed-roof forebearer.

As for performance, the convertible supercar will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.85s and from 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in 8s before topping out at 211 mph (340 km/h). That’s frighteningly fast performance – especially with the roof down.
Ferrari says the 488 Pista Spider is its 50th drop-top model and that a “premiere in the US was a natural choice given that, ever since the 1950s, North American clients have always been keen connoisseurs of high-performance convertibles.” There’s no word on pricing or production numbers, but you can be sure it will be expensive and highly exclusive.
