BMW Speedtop Is A Love Letter To Wagons

BMW just introduced the Concept Speedtop at the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. It's a powerful V8 shooting brake wagon that should excite everyone who's sick of a world dominated by high-riding crossovers.

The Speedtop reworks last year’s Skytop convertible into a long-roof three-door shooting brake.

The design is largely carried over from the Skytop, including the narrow front lighting, illuminated kidney grille with horizontal bars, and a sharp beltline that runs the length of the body.

The hood’s center spine continues onto the roof and spoiler, a styling feature repeated with a light bar in the headliner.

Where the convertible’s roof ended, the Speedtop's extends rearward, trading the open top for a fastback-like hatch with integrated spoiler.

The exterior is painted in a gradient from Floating Sunstone Maroon to Sundown Silver.

Concealed chrome door pulls are integrated into the window trim.

Inside, the layout is directly derived from the 8 Series.

The rear compartment trades seating for two-tier shelving secured with leather straps, and BMW has collaborated with Schedoni to produce custom luggage.

Ambient lighting continues the spine motif in the headliner

The craftsmanship is a result of the expertise of the special Manufactory workshop at the BMW plant in Dingolfing.

The interior is trimmed in a mix of Sundown Maroon and Moonstone White leather.

Known for the production of exclusive and high-quality leather goods by hand, Schedoni has always stood for the highest quality and customisation.

The trunk is also leather-covered and refined with brogue-style perforations.

The two-tone colour and material concept creates a connection between the exterior and interior.

BMW has not specified the full powertrain details but confirmed that the Speedtop uses the company’s most powerful V8 currently in production.

Based on the Skytop, the Speedtop is likely using a version of the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 making 617 horsepower.

The engine is paired with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system and an eight-speed automatic.

The Speedtop wears specially designed 14-spoke wheels.
