The New Polestar 3 Has Longer Legs And A Lower Price

Polestar initially launched its 3 SUV in two flavors — a Long Range Dual-Motor trim and a Long Range Dual Motor Performance.


Notably, single-motor variants were absent. That’s no longer the case, and while buyers might lose an electric motor, they gain a lot in return. The new 2025 Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor (LRSM) will hit an EPA-certified range of 350 miles compared to the 315 miles of the Long Range Dual-Motor and the 275 miles found in the Long Range Dual Motor Performance trim.

The new Polestar 3 LRSM uses a single motor placed on the rear axle paired with a 111-kilowatt-hour battery to arrive at this range figure. Obviously, this 3 asks that buyers trade four driven wheels for two in the name of better efficiency, but there’s another compromise: performance.


Thankfully, the new LRSM model should still feel plenty punchy with its 299 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque. It’s nowhere near the highs of the 489-517 hp found in the rest of the lineup, but anyone who’s driven a 300-horsepower anything will tell you that figure is plenty healthy.

Charging isn’t compromised, thankfully, and Polestar says the new single-motor still gets the same 250kW DC charging as the rest of the lineup, along with the automaker’s suite of driver aids. The new, entry-level Polestar 3 looks enticing, packing in plenty of range and performance, in addition to being the cheapest trim in the lineup. Pricing starts at $68,500.
