Just weeks after showing off its design chops with the X Gran Coupe and X Gran Convertible, Genesis used the 2025 New York Auto Show to unveil its latest concept, the X Gran Equator SUV.

Key Points

  • Genesis revealed the X Gran Equator concept SUV at the 2025 New York Auto Show, showcasing a rugged, lifestyle-focused design.
  • The grilleless front and concept all-terrain tires suggest an all-electric, off-road-capable platform, though no powertrain details were confirmed.
  • Inside, the concept features four individual seats, a four-panel sunroof, and a mix of analog-style digital displays, hinting at future Genesis design directions.

With an extremely long hood and very short rear overhang, the Genesis X Gran Equator SUV concept is what the Korean luxury automaker calls it an “adventure vehicle concept.” While that definition is more than a bit nebulous, it’s clear that this conceptual SUV is designed to travel well off the beaten path.

“It represents the orchestration of true off-road competence and uncompromising luxury, designed to enable the discovery of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Chief Creative Officer of Genesis.

A set of 24-inch beadlock wheels emphasizes the rugged aspect, while the interior is swathed in interesting textures that combine luxuriousness with a somewhat austere sense of style.

There’s no touchscreen system dominating the interior, which instead features four circular gauges that Genesis says are inspired by the dials of vintage cameras. The two front seats are designed to swivel, and four rectangular skylights let in extra light.

There’s no mention of what powers the X Gran Equator Concept. Judging by the lack of any sort of grille or opening at the front, we’re inclined to believe this conceptual utility vehicle could be electric, or at the very least, may point toward another future electrified SUV from Genesis.
