Ford Does A Jeep Thing In Moab

Not content with letting Jeep own Moab, Ford has unveiled two Bronco-based project vehicles to demonstrate the range of customization possible with the 2025 Bronco Badlands trim. Both builds were created as part of the brand’s Off-Roadeo program and will be shown at this week’s Bronco Stampede event in Moab, Utah.

Key Points

  • Ford revealed two Bronco project builds based on the 2025 Bronco Badlands to showcase customization potential.
  • The Bronco Off-Roadeo: Arches Project Vehicle is a four-door model built for general trail touring in Moab, featuring 37-inch BFGoodrich tires and a Warn winch.
  • The Bronco Off-Roadeo: Cliffhanger Project Vehicle is a two-door build with 40-inch BFGoodrich Baja race tires, Fox Live Valve dampers, and Raptor-style fender flares.

Bronco Arches Project Vehicle

The first build is a four-door Bronco designed for all-around trail performance. It rides on 37-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KDR2+ tires wrapped around a set of Method wheels and has a Warn Zeon 10-S winch mounted to the front bumper.

Additional lighting includes a windshield-mounted light bar and mirror-mounted auxiliary lights. The Bronco Arches project truck is envisioned as a capable option for group trail rides

Bronco Cliffhanger Project Vehicle

Based on the two-door Bronco, the second build takes a more aggressive approach. The Cliffhanger swaps the standard suspension for a set of Fox Live Valve dampers and is equipped with 40-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A Evo 3.0S race tires and 18-inch beadlock-capable Method wheels.

It shares the same front-end lighting and winch setup as the Arches model but adds Bronco Raptor-style fender flares for increased clearance and a more pronounced stance.

Both vehicles are wrapped in a clay-colored finish with Code Orange detailing. Design elements include trail-specific Easter eggs, such as petroglyph graphics and GPS coordinates referencing local Moab trails.

Ford has not announced plans to produce either vehicle but is using them as functional examples of what’s possible through aftermarket and Ford Performance customization options.

The Cliffhanger looks promising. Right tire size; approach and departure angles, correct; no useless back seat. Unfortunately, rather than a fridge a useless, not smart console still occupies the valuable shoulder and butt space between seats. Hopefully, the Sasquatch package will be standard equipment with a manual trans..... all for a price that better not require after market modifications to make it properly capable. I hope the spare is not mounted on a swing out tailgate. The tailgate needs to be drop down; we must have the extra horizontal real estate for sitting, working, serving, possibly sleeping, etc. A swing out spare must be steel bumper or frame mounted. How easily will the hard top be managed and stored? What about interior water exposure management? The screen is flush in the dash rather than appearing to be an afterthought .....good, but why are screens even necessary? Who wants 'em? Make screens optional plug-in-mounted components used for advanced field diagnosis and troubleshooting. Software with screens and menus do not belong permanently mounted in off-road vehicles! Rather, sensible storage for easily accessed tools like shovels and adequate electric power for fridges, lighting, air, etc. must be standard....We don't need no stinkin' screens!

Doesn't look like Ford has any intention of offering either of these vehicles as trim packages, unfortunately.
