American Expedition Vehicles is stepping into Ford country for the first time. Ahead of the Detroit Auto Show the Michigan-based off-road specialist has unveiled the FXL, a heavy-duty build based on Ford’s F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks.

The turnkey FXL features AEV’s HighMark fender flares and a steel front bumper engineered to accept a 20,000-pound winch. The bumper has been designed for compatibility with Ford’s existing driver-assistance suite, and will eventually be available with a brush guard. Out back, the truck wears a high-clearance rear bumper, along with AEV graphics, badging, mud flaps, and auxiliary lighting.

Underneath is where the FXL is most impressive. AEV developed a four-inch DualSport suspension specifically for the Super Duty platform, using Bilstein shocks and custom coil springs. The company said its goal was to package 40-inch BFGoodrich HD-Terrain tires with as little boy lift as possible. The setup delivers 12 inches of vertical clearance underneath the lowest point of the rear axle.

Those tires are mounted on 18-inch Katmai DualSport wheels that are beadlock-capable, a combination that should 'preserve' unladen ride quality and on-road stability while adding meaningful off-road clearance. AEV says they're working on 10-lug versions of the same wheels that will work with F-450 and F-550 Super Duties, but those won't be available until at least Q3 of 2026.

Production of the FXL will take place at AEV’s facility in Wixom, Michigan, with sales handled through authorized dealers. AEV says the truck will carry a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty.

For buyers who prefer to build incrementally, AEV will also sell many of the FXL components individually. Several parts, including the front bumper, will fit the F-450 and F-550 as well. Individual parts availability is expected to begin in Q2 of 2026.

The 2026 Ford Super Duty AEV FXL will be on display at the 2026 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
