These Are The SUVs People Are Shopping For Right Now
Hyundai seemingly has a hit on its hands in the form of the Hyundai Palisade. This is the third month in a row that Hyundai’s family-size three-row SUV has led the list as the most researched SUV in America.
This list of the most researched SUVs in America in December of 2025 is made up of familiar faces. Crossover SUVs have officially taken over as the family car of choice for American families, led by top-sellers like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, Chevrolet Equinox, and Hyundai Tucson (that’s the order they finished in sales in 2024, with the Tesla Model Y fitting in between the Toyota and Honda).
So it’s no surprise to see those compact crossovers toward the top of the most-researched list.
Most Researched SUVs December 2025 |
|---|
Hyundai Palisade |
Toyota RAV4 |
Hyundai Tucson |
Chevrolet Equinox |
Lexus RX 350 |
Honda CR-V |
Nissan Rogue |
Jeep Wrangler |
Toyota Grand Highlander |
Chevrolet Traverse |
Chevrolet Tahoe |
Toyota 4Runner |
Hyundai Santa Fe |
Toyota Highlander |
Ford Explorer |
Subaru Forester |
Subaru Outback |
Subaru Crosstrek |
Chevrolet Trax |
Toyota Corolla Cross |
Other SUVs such as the Chevrolet Trax (the 15th best-seller last year), Ford Explorer (16th in sales), Subaru Crosstrek (18th in sales), Subaru Forester (19th in sales), Toyota Highlander (20th in sales) and Subaru Outback (21st in sales) also land in the top 20 on this list.
Perhaps it’s more interesting to note which of the top sellers didn’t appear in the most-researched list: the Jeep Grand Cherokee (12th in sales), Kia Sportage (23rd in sales) and the aforementioned Tesla Model Y, which, to be fair, did find itself as the most-researched electric vehicle last month (though still out of the top 20 overall SUVs, seen above).
The main outlier on this list of the most-researched SUVs in America, which we compile using data provided exclusively to AutoGuide via AutoFinder.com — an automotive marketplace featuring over 3 million new and used vehicle listings, connecting consumers with top dealerships nationwide to easily find and secure the best deal on a car, truck, or SUV, is the Jeep Wrangler.
It’s the only sport utility vehicle in the top 20 with a clear off-road bias. Models like the Chevrolet Tahoe, Toyota 4Runner and Ford Explorer offer variants with raised suspensions and chunky tires, but the Wrangler is clearly designed for those who take their off-roading seriously.

Way too many SUVs on the road today. They're more car than most of the people driving them need, especially in cities. How many people actually need to accommodate 5 passengers and 90 cubic feet of luggage/gear?
