Jeep Scores Dead Last in Consumer Reports Brand Report Card Rankings
Jeep owners, we have some bad news.
According to Consumer Reports, the storied manufacturer of off-road vehicles makes the worst cars in America.
Not only is Jeep in last place, but Consumer Reports says it can’t recommend a single model that the automaker builds. It’s joined by six other automakers on that dubious list: Lincoln, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, GMC, Land Rover and Rivian.

The brands are ranked based on rankings from four categories: road test score, predicted reliability, owner satisfaction, and safety.

More than half of Consumer Reports’ lowest-ranked brands are American, and four of them – Jeep, Rivian, Land Rover, and GMC – specialize in vehicles that bridge the gap between off-road capability and luxury interior trimmings. Of those brands, only Rivian has a road test score that’s at least mid-pack from Consumer Reports.
Some of the rest of the brands have an aging product lineup. For instance, although the Hornet is fresh, the rest of Dodge’s lineup, which includes the Challenger, Charger, and Durango, is very old. On the positive side, the Dodge brand is about to enjoy a thorough refresh. Similarly, Alfa Romeo only offers three vehicles in the States, and the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV are several years old.
Volkswagen, Lincoln and Mercedes-Benz score reasonably well in the road test score category, but fall behind with below-average predicted reliability, poor customer satisfaction scores, or both.
