16 Cars Americans Don't Care About: Why Don't People Like Audi?
Audi is once again well represented on our latest list of the least-researched vehicles in America. But there are a few surprises, too.
As we have explained (several times) in the past, Audi’s difficult-to-decipher naming scheme is surely at least partially to blame for the German brand’s continued poor performance on the most- and least-researched vehicles lists. We’ll get into that a bit more after we reveal October’s rankings. But there are a few surprises on this latest least-researched list worth identifying, most notably the inclusion of a BMW model that is universally respected for its excellent performance.
Bottom 16 Vehicles Researched In October 2025 |
|---|
392. Aston Martin DBX (tie) |
392. Audi A5 (tie) |
392. Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron (tie) |
392. Audi SQ8 Sportback e-tron (tie) |
393. Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron (tie) |
393. Audi S7 (tie) |
393. Bentley Bentayga EWB (tie) |
393. Cadillac Escalade-V (tie) |
393. Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid (tie) |
393. Nissan GT-R (tie) |
393. Nissan Titan XD (tie) |
394. Aston Martin Vanquish (tie) |
394. Audi RS E-Tron GT Performance (tie) |
394. BMW M4 (tie) |
394. Volvo XC40 Recharge (tie) |
394. Volvo XC60 Recharge (tie) |
There are six Audis on this latest list, a trend we’ve identified over the course of the past several months. To blame, we think, is the way Audi names its vehicles. Can you immediately explain the difference between the Audi Q8 Sportback e-tron and the Audi SQ8 Sportback e-tron? And even if you can (the one with the S is sportier, naturally), would you expect the average car shopper to know which one to search for? Nope, neither would we.
Most of the rest of the vehicles on this latest, least-researched list can be explained as well. From high-cost, low-volume models (anything from Aston Martin or Bentley, along with the overpowered Cadillac SUV) to cars that have been discontinued or are on life support (the Nissan Titan XD and GT-R), the bulk of the list makes sense.
We’re always a little surprised to see relatively mainstream models like the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV show up on the list, but the one we’re really scratching our noggins at is the BMW M4. Sure, it’s not exactly a car that’s on the shopping lists of many buyers, but it’s not unobtanium or obscure, either.
So who knows?
And then we have a pair of plug-in SUVs from Volvo that make a return to the list after disappearing for a month. We’d wager that most people interested in one of these two crossovers leave the “Recharge” off their search queries, which would explain their appearance on the list.

Where I live the SUV craze is slowing slightly among the well-heeled crowd, being replaced by Mercedes, BMW, and Audi, a mixture of sedans and SUVs. The Audis are the worst tailgaters.
