The 2025 Land Rover Defender offers the most expansive lineup of any of the traditional off-roaders. You can get a basic two-door model that’s somewhat close to the notion of a traditional Defender for just over $60,000. Or spend nearly $100 grand more and drive off with the luxurious V8-powered OCTA edition. There’s also a cavernous three-row model and a middle-child two-row variant. Got all that?

To illustrate just how much Honda has rethought the Passport for 2026: half of the first drive event is now off-road.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser First Edition is a limited-run (5,000 examples in North America) model that celebrates the return of the Land Cruiser name. My tester arrived in a subtle Trail Dust (body) and Grayscape (roof) color scheme with 18-inch black alloy wheels. Power comes from Toyota’s 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder i-Force Max hybrid system with 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque with an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. It stickered for $76,825.

It looks like Honda has finally done it—at least on paper.
