Acura MDX Overview

The 2025 Acura MDX, now available starting at $50,900, introduces notable updates across design, technology, and safety. The exterior features a more aggressive front fascia with a redesigned grille and updated lighting elements. The interior receives a 12.3-inch touchscreen interface with Google built-in, replacing the previous touchpad. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across all trims.

The MDX expands its appeal with advanced audio options, including Bang & Olufsen systems. Higher trims, such as the MDX Type S with the Advance Package, feature a 31-speaker, 1,760-watt setup designed for an immersive listening experience.

Safety upgrades include the AcuraWatch 360 system, exclusive to the Type S with Advance Package, which introduces features like Active Lane Change Assist and Front Cross Traffic Warning. Other trims benefit from enhancements to existing safety systems, such as extended blind-spot monitoring range.

The cabin has been refined for reduced road noise, with updates to insulation and glass. New trims, including the MDX A-Spec with Advance Package, combine sporty styling with premium features such as massaging front seats and a surround-view camera system. Performance-focused Type S models include exclusive design elements, a turbocharged V6, and Brembo brakes. These updates collectively modernize the MDX while maintaining its reputation as a versatile luxury SUV.

Acura MDX vs Infiniti QX60 vs Lexus TX: The X Marks the Spot

The Lexus lineup had a big hole to plug.

Three-row luxury SUVs are big business, yet even though the Japanese brand had two answers to the question—the stretched RX-L, and the rugged GX—neither ever quite seemed the right one.

The new-for-2024 TX aims to change that. With a larger footprint than any unibody Lexus SUV to come before it, the TX promises to shuttle six in comfort, and all the assorted flotsam and jetsam that comes with that. We were impressed enough with the new model at its launch late last year, so we had to get it together with its countryman on home turf to really see how it stacks up. Jumping in to help us wrangle the Lexus, Acura MDX, and Infiniti QX60 is regular AutoGuide contributor—and fellow TX launch event attendee—Jeff Wilson.

2022 Acura MDX Review: A Fitter Flagship

It’s going to be a while before AutoGuide can pit the 2022 Acura MDX against the competition. Before that, I can tell you it certainly offers more sure-footed grip than one alternative: my own two legs.

Picture the scene: a marginally snowy industrial cul-de-sac. I’ve parked up the shiny new 2022 Acura MDX in an attempt to capture the final few minutes of golden sunset. As I frantically circle around the big red three-row, trying to find the best angle to show off its sharp looks, I unknowingly dart over a patch of ice. It’s a patch the Acura barely even hinted at mere seconds ago, but that doesn’t stop me from doing an impromptu impression of Harry heading up the front steps at the McCallister residence in Home Alone.

Okay, easy first win for the MDX versus my lack of seasonal awareness. But what about the three-row SUV crowd? This is a tough segment, with a deep lineup of talent. Now the de facto flagship of the Acura brand, the MDX has big shoes to fill: the previous model remained a volume leader in the segment its whole run. Can the 2022 model hold its ground?
