Find everything you need to know about the Lexus LX here, along with expert reviews, specs, photos, videos and more.

The large Lexus LX is one of the few body-on-frame luxury SUVs left on the market. Based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, the LX is a bit of a jack of all trades. Hauling passengers, gear, or trailers, this big Lexus also features impressive off-road capabilities. And unlike a lot of its competitors, the LX only comes with four-wheel drive.

Lexus LX Overview

The 2026 Lexus LX is the brand's flagship body-on-frame SUV, built on the GA-F platform. It is engineered for a combination of on-road refinement and off-road capability, with a lineup that includes both gasoline and hybrid powertrains. The starting MSRP for the 2026 model is $107,950.

Powertrain and Performance

The LX 600 is powered by a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 409 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. The LX 700h utilizes a hybrid version of this engine, increasing output to 457 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard on both models, and each has a maximum towing capacity of 8,000 pounds. To manage various driving conditions, all models come standard with systems like Active Height Control, Adaptive Variable Suspension, and Multi-Terrain Select.

Grades and Features

The LX is offered in five grades: Premium, F SPORT Handling, Luxury, Ultra Luxury, and Overtrail. The Overtrail grade is equipped for off-road use with features such as locking front and rear differentials and 33-inch all-terrain tires. For maximum passenger comfort, the four-seat Ultra Luxury grade provides exclusive VIP rear seating with a dedicated control panel. The interior features a dual-touchscreen Lexus Interface, with a 12.3-inch upper screen and a 7-inch lower screen for climate and vehicle controls.

What's New for 2026

Lexus introduced several updates for the 2026 model year.

  • An F SPORT Appearance Package is now available for the LX 700h F SPORT Handling model, adding color-keyed bumper accents and black exterior trim.
  • The Overtrail grade receives a new exterior color option, Manganese Luster.
  • The off-road-oriented Overtrail grade is now offered exclusively on the LX 700h hybrid model and is available in either a two- or three-row configuration.
  • The Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite of advanced driver-assistance features comes standard across the entire 2026 LX lineup.

2022 Lexus LX600 First Drive Review: Comfortably Niche

My first impression of the 2022 Lexus LX600 happens at 7,200 feet, and roughly 7,200 miles from where it feels built for.

That’s not to say the latest Lexus flagship is totally out of place. We’re in Santa Fe, New Mexico, which throws stunning snow-capped vistas at me quicker than Hollywood can mine our nostalgia. A wholly acceptable spot within North America to launch a new luxury SUV, Santa Fe is. I’m pretty sure the Lexus team practically sold a ski-tripping family on a new one just by having the fleet parked in front of the hotel.

After over a dozen years, the Japanese luxury brand’s SUV flagship has received a much-needed generational change. As you’d expect after so long, that’s made for dramatic improvements across the board, from refinement, technology, capability, and yes, even fuel economy. The result is a big-time rig that wouldn’t look out of place launching over dunes outside Tabuk. That genuine off-road capability marks it out amongst the large luxury SUV crowd—only now it comes with better road manners.
