Jeep is expanding its top-selling Grand Cherokee lineup for the 2027 model year, introducing three new trim levels—Upland, Trailhawk, and Overland—alongside tech upgrades and a revised powertrain strategy. As the primary volume driver for both the Jeep brand and parent company Stellantis, the midsize SUV continues to anchor the lineup by offering a broader spread between entry-level value and dedicated off-road capability.

Revised Powertrain Lineup and Off-Road Capability

Jeep is adjusting its engine distribution across the Grand Cherokee range for 2027. The long-standing 3.6-liter naturally aspirated Pentastar V6 now serves as standard equipment exclusively on the entry-level Laredo and Laredo X trims. Stepping up to the Laredo Altitude or higher replaces the V6 with Stellantis' 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 turbocharged four-cylinder engine as standard power.

When properly optioned for rough terrain, the Grand Cherokee maintains best-in-class off-road geometry figures. Off-road hardware configurations deliver up to 11.4 inches of ground clearance, a 36-degree approach angle, a 24.4-degree breakover angle, and a 30.3-degree departure angle, alongside a maximum towing capacity of 6,200 pounds.

2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee New Trim Level Additions

The most notable addition to the 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup is the Laredo Upland, a new trim engineered to package off-road hardware and aggressive styling at a more accessible price point. The Upland gets 18-inch Trailhawk-inspired wheels wrapped in 265/60R18 all-terrain tires, a revised front fascia featuring Vapor Gray tow hooks, a body-colored roof, and dark neutral gray exterior trim. Inside, the cabin receives Capri leatherette and suede seats finished in Global Black.

Positioned above the Upland, the dedicated Trailhawk and high-spec Overland trims rejoin the catalog as late-availability models for buyers seeking maximum trail performance or higher-end comfort features.

Equipment updates filter down through the core trim structure as well. Base Laredo and Laredo X models replace the outgoing 8.4-inch display with a larger 10.1-inch Uconnect touchscreen as standard equipment, accompanied by a fresh 18-inch wheel design. The Laredo Altitude adopts the same updated 18-inch wheels, while the mid-tier Limited gains a wireless charging pad, rain-sensing wipers, and a new 20-inch wheel design. The upper-tier Limited Reserve adds auto-dimming, power-folding side mirrors.

Jeep is also expanding the exterior color catalog with new options including High Gloss Black and Sting Gray, alongside late-availability additions like Ghost, Red Hot, Olive Green, Midnight Sky, Ember, and Red Rock.

These join returning shades such as Bright White, Steel Blue, Copper Shino, and Fathom Blue. Inside, Wicker Beige joins Global Black as a new interior theme for the Laredo, while range-topping Summit models retain their Tupelo and Black leather upholstery.

2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Pricing And Availability

Assembled in Michigan at Stellantis' Detroit Assembly Complex across the Mack and Jefferson facilities, the 2027 Grand Cherokee is available to order now, with initial dealer arrivals scheduled for late 2026.

Pricing opens at $41,515 for the entry-level Grand Cherokee Laredo. The new Laredo Upland starts at $49,990, while the off-road-focused Trailhawk comes in at $54,995. The luxury-oriented Overland sits near the top of the range at $57,895, with all prices including a $1,995 destination freight charge.

Think I’ll keep my 3.6 2021 trailhawk. Drove the I4 and no way. Think it had turbo lag or something as it hesitates on go. One dealer ride and one rental both the same.

I've not heard anything good about the new 2.0 Hurricane. Motor Trend did testing and it was not any quicker than the 3.6. Have a 2022 Limited with 3.6 that gets between 22 and 24 MPG on average, plenty of power for passing on 2 lane highways, and can't see adding complexity without any obvious benefit. Another turbo 4 engine for emissions compliance. The Pentastar isn't perfect, but it's a good motor and a known quantity that still uses port injection (no issues with coked up intake valves or high pressure injectors/pump) to get great numbers. Wife's 2019 Pacifica with this motor is pushing 118K miles and it has been solid, had a Town & Country before that for 7 yrs and around 120K and never had a motor issue.
