The New BMW X5 Has Features I've Never Seen Before

This new BMW X5 has some insane features that you've never seen before, like customizable daytime running lights. So, if you don't like the X, you can turn it off. And the inside is crazy nice.

But my favorite one is that this passenger screen runs even when you're in motion. So, if your driver is focused, it'll play. But if they start looking over to see what you're driving and check out who won Dancing with the Stars, a camera's going to pick it up and it's going to gray out the screen.

Your backseat passengers have some crazy nice stuff, too, like magnetic phone holders so they can watch their own device and cozy pillows for their heads and elbows. But check this out: the new X5 also has a wireless charging pad with a magnet for the backseat passengers.

These doors are doing the most. You have these new winglet door handles that you just touch and open. You also have the option to get power open and close, and they all have soft close.

There's no screen in front of the driver, but you have this huge panoramic display that goes all the way across your dash. And you have the latest version of Alexa AI built in.

So, which feature is your favorite?

The next-generation BMW X5 pushes automotive technology and cabin luxury to a whole new level. From privacy-focused entertainment systems to beltline door winglets, here are the most notable features packed into this updated luxury SUV.

1. Exterior & Customization Options

  • Customizable Daytime Running Lights: Drivers can adjust the front LED light signature directly through the infotainment system—including turning off the signature "X" graphics for a cleaner, more subtle look.
  • Winglet Door Handles: The X5 introduces sleek beltline "winglet" door handles. The doors open with a touch and offer optional fully powered opening/closing, along with standard soft-close functionality.

2. Driver & Passenger Technology

  • Privacy-Filtered Passenger Display: Front-passenger screens allow side passengers to stream media independently while in motion. To prevent driver distraction, an interior attention camera tracks the driver's eyes; if the driver glances over at the passenger screen, the display automatically grays out.
  • Panoramic Dashboard Display: The driver side features a sweeping, pillar-to-pillar panoramic display with no traditional gauge pod hood.
  • Built-In Alexa AI: The infotainment setup features the latest version of Amazon Alexa AI for enhanced voice commands and vehicle control.

3. Rear-Seat Amenities & Materials

  • High-End Interior Materials: The cabin features genuine leather trim, slate accents, suede paneling, and real crystal controls along the center console.
  • Dedicated Rear Wireless Charging: Rear passengers get access to a magnet-assisted wireless charging pad along with magnetic smartphone mounts on the front seatbacks.
  • Passenger Comfort Accessories: Second-row seating includes dedicated headrest and elbow cushions for extended road-trip comfort.
