Honda Named Best Car Brand In America
Honda earned its fourth consecutive award as the Best Car Brand in America from U.S. News & World Report.
The Japanese automaker won the honor after receiving the highest score from the publication, which derives its U.S. News Best Cars rankings by taking “into account a range of data points like safety ratings and reliability data, as well as the consensus opinion of the automotive press” across the brand’s entire model portfolio. The Civic Type R, which AutoGuide.com also named its Best Performance Car after judging it against three of its most capable rivals, was singled out as one notable model that stood out from its competitors.
Hyundai was awarded as the Best SUV Brand, with U.S. News & World Report highlighting “the exceptional quality of the Palisade, Tucson and Tucson Hybrid models.” Hyundai took the title away from Mazda, which took home the Best SUV trophy the previous year.
The Best Truck Brand went to Ram for the sixth year in a row based on the strength of its 1500 and 2500 lineup, which makes sense considering almost everything Ram sells are pickup trucks (along with a few vans that are aimed mostly at the commercial market). Porsche took the win in the Best Luxury Brand category, which was won by Rivian last year. The Boxster and Cayman models were cited as helping Porsche secure the ranking.
“A key consideration for consumers during the car-buying process is the strength of an automaker’s brand – and how it’s reflected on the quality of the cars in its lineup,” said John Vincent, senior automotive correspondent at U.S. News.
A total of 38 brands were eligible for awards this year. “Those in the market for a car, SUV, truck or luxury vehicle can look to this year’s Best Vehicle Brand winners as a helpful starting point on their car buying journey,” said Vincent.
