Ford Wishes The Expedition A Happy 30th Birthday With Appearance Pack
Ford is marking a major milestone for one of its longest-running nameplates, introducing a special edition package to celebrate the Expedition’s 30th anniversary.
Set to coincide with the SUV’s three-decade run in 2027, the new 30th Anniversary Appearance Package brings a mix of unique styling elements and subtle interior upgrades to Ford’s full-size three-row.
The most noticeable change comes from the paint. The anniversary model debuts in Blue Ember metallic tri-coat, a deep, color-shifting finish previously reserved for the Mustang Dark Horse. It’s paired with exclusive badging and rides on 22-inch high-gloss ebony wheels, giving the Expedition a more upscale, almost performance-inspired presence.
Ford says the package will be available on models equipped with the Stealth Appearance Package, helping differentiate them further from the standard lineup.
Inside, the updates are more understated but still purposeful. The cabin features 30th anniversary branding embossed on the sliding center console lid, along with unique door sill plates. A Salt Crystal Gray interior theme rounds out the package, setting it apart from other trims.
Since its debut in 1996 for the 1997 model year, the Expedition has become a mainstay in Ford’s SUV lineup. Nearly three million units have been sold over five generations, evolving from a body-on-frame family hauler into a more refined, tech-forward flagship.
Over the years, the model has spawned a number of recognizable special editions, including the popular Eddie Bauer variants that helped define the SUV boom of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
The current fifth-generation Expedition, introduced for 2025, continues that evolution. It’s powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 producing 400 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, while a higher-output version—available on certain trims—pushes that to 440 hp and 510 lb-ft. All models are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Ford has yet to announce pricing for the 30th Anniversary Appearance Package. The current 2026 Expedition starts at $65,495, with details on the special edition expected closer to its on-sale date.
While the changes are largely cosmetic, the package serves as a nod to how far the Expedition has come—from a utilitarian SUV of the 1990s to one of Ford’s most important and well-rounded vehicles today.

Sadly they ruined this full-sized SUV when they went mid-sized V6 turbo only in 2015. Wouldn't even consider one until they put in a NA V8 again like Chevy and others.
