Kimi Antonelli's second season in Formula 1 is off to a pretty spectacular start.

The 19-year-old finished the first race of the year in P2 only to go on to win the second and third races. Kimi made it look easy, and there's a lot of promise for the young Italian driver. It's obvious the F1 fandom is there backing him, and that shows quite clearly, given the news that a Topps trading card featuring the Mercedes driver was purchased for $201,091 at the recent Goldin Auctions.

Trading card collectors sure are an eclectic bunch. Baseball is the primary sport of focus for these hobbyists, and apparently there's a huge market for Formula 1 trading cards as well.

Not only that, but it seems trading cards bring in big money, especially in the case of the top-tier of the famous and talented. Someone is hedging their bets that Kimi Antonelli's promising start is going to pan out into a historic—or at least exciting—career, as they paid over $200k for a trading card with a teenager's face on it.

The 1-of-1 Topps Dynasty F1 Racing trading card isn't just a trading card, though. Set within the confines of the rectangle is a sliver of Kimi's actual driving glove from one of his two race wins. The card itself also looks like an IWC watch. It's no Richard Mille, but it's still pretty cool.

Whether you (or we) care that this is the seventh-highest-selling price for a Formula 1 trading card is really a matter of the eye of the beholder. We're big Kimi fans (something about the name...), and yet that much money is simply a bonkers amount for a trading card.

For the record, the most expensive F1 trading card ever sold was a 2020 Topps Chrome Lewis Hamilton SuperFractor Autograph edition, and it went for a cool million dollars. F1 really is a rich guy's sport, after all.
